This afternoon, we had to close the Olympic Chair early due to a mechanical issue. Our maintenance team has identified the problem and is actively working to secure a replacement part as quickly as possible.
With New Year’s Eve impacting overnight shipping, there is a chance that the Olympic Chair may not be operational tomorrow. We wanted to share this update as early as possible so guests can plan accordingly.
Tomorrow, the Thunderhead Chair will be open to the midway station, and the Magic Carpet will also be operating. As always, the safety of our guests and staff remains our top priority.

Good Morning Snow Riders,
This is Jessi with your Blacktail Mountain Report for Tuesday, December 30th. It is currently 19 degrees with light winds of 0-5 miles per hour and visibility is unlimited. Groomers are reporting no new snow and a settled base of 25 inches. We will be sliding today on packed powder and machine groomed runs with the Magic Carpet, Thunderhead, and Olympic lifts in operation. We will be skiing on the top half of the mountain today, Thunderhead skiers and riders will load at the midway station. Crystal Country and additional terrain will open as soon as conditions permit. Early season conditions exist, please obey all rope lines and closures they are in place for your safety.
Join us for an Apres ski New Years Eve in Muley’s bar tomorrow! Colton C will be live in Muley’s from 3-5, the restaurant will be serving up some specials, and we hope you’ll be there in your best Retro Ski gear. Blacktail is open seven days a week now through January 4th for the holiday.

Daily Details
- The Olympic Chair, Thunderhead Chair and the Magic Carpet are scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm.
- Daily lift tickets are available to purchase ONLINE. Save money and time at the ticket office by creating an account, purchasing RFID cards and day lift tickets or passes in advance online.
- Tickets today are $85 for Adults (25-69), $75 for Young Adults (18-24), $70 for Teens (13-17), $60 for Children (8-12), $40 for Seniors (70+), and $10 Season Pass for Tiny Tots (7 & under) and 5th Graders.
- Muley’s Bar will be open 10:30 am-5 pm, the Grill 10:30-4 pm, Mighty Bites Cafeteria and Blacktail Bean (located in the cafeteria) will be open 8 am-4 pm.
- The rental shop will be open from 8:30 am-4 pm.
- The Blacktail Trading Co. retail shop will be open from 9:00 am-4:30 pm.
- Snow Sports Lessons are available at the window 30 minutes prior to the start of the lesson and there is availability online for future dates.
