The Olympic Lift is now operational and open to the public!
Good Morning Snow Riders,
This is Jessi with your Blacktail Mountain Report for Tuesday, December 31st. It is currently 28 degrees with light winds of 0-5 miles per hour and visibility is unlimited. Groomers are reporting no new snow and a settled base of 25 inches. We will be sliding today on packed powder and machine groomed runs with the Magic Carpet, and Thunderhead lift in operation.
The Olympic lift experienced a mechanical issue at the end of the day yesterday. Our maintenance team has identified the issue and will be working to replace the part this morning. We do hope to have a delayed opening of the Olympic lift; but there is a chance it will not be operational today. Rates have been reduced for operations today. We will post updates here.
We will be skiing on the top half of the mountain today, Thunderhead skiers and riders will load at the midway station. Crystal Country and additional terrain will open as soon as conditions permit. Early season conditions exist, please obey all ropelines and closures they are in place for your safety.
Join us for an Apres ski New Years Eve in Muley’s bar! Colton C will be live in Muleys from 3-5, the restaurant will be serving up some specials, and we hope you’ll be there in your best Retro Ski gear. Blacktail is open seven days a week now through January 4th for the holiday.

Daily Details
- The Olympic Chair, Thunderhead Chair and the Magic Carpet are scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm.
- Daily lift tickets are available to purchase ONLINE. Save money and time at the ticket office by creating an account, purchasing RFID cards and day lift tickets or passes in advance online.
- Tickets today are $65 for Adults (25-69), $60 for Young Adults (18-24), $45 for Teens (13-17), $50 for Children (8-12), $40 for Seniors (70+), and $10 Season Pass for Tiny Tots (7 & under) and 5th Graders.
- Muley’s Bar will be open 10:30 am-5 pm, the Grill 10:30-4 pm, Mighty Bites Cafeteria and Blacktail Bean (located in the cafeteria) will be open 8 am-4 pm.
- The rental shop will be open from 8:30 am-4 pm.
- The Blacktail Trading Co. retail shop will be open from 9:00 am-4:30 pm.
- Snow Sports Lessons are available at the window 30 minutes prior to the start of the lesson and there is availability online for future dates.
