It is currently 24 degrees with light winds out of the SSW. The new snow overnight is soft underfoot and skiing a little slower — in a good way. This has smoothed things out across the hill and making for comfortable, forgiving turns. Check out the grooming report for where to find that untracked snow, and start your day with clear lenses as the light is flat.
Up top, visibility is variable, but it clears quickly as you drop below the summit. Once you’re lower on the mountain, winds calm down, sight-lines open up, and those lake views make a return.
It’s a great day to cruise, settle into a rhythm, and enjoy the softer snow on groomed terrain.

This is Jessi with your Blacktail Mountain Report for Thursday, January 29th. It is currently 24 degrees with winds of 0-5 miles per hour out of the west and visibility is unlimited. Groomers are reporting 2 inches of new snow in the last 24 hours and a settled base of 25 inches. We will be sliding today on packed powder and machine groomed runs with the Magic Carpet, Thunderhead, and Olympic lifts in operation.
We continue to ski on the top half of the mountain, Thunderhead skiers and riders will load at the midway station. Early season conditions do exist, please obey all ropelines and closures they are in place for your safety.

- The Olympic Chair, Thunderhead Chair and the Magic Carpet are scheduled for operation from 9am to 4pm.
- Daily lift tickets and rentals are available to purchase ONLINE. Save time and money by creating your account and making purchases on our e-store.
- Ticket prices are are $39 on Thursdays when you purchase them ONLINE
- Muley’s Bar will be open 10:30 am-5 pm, the Grill 10:30-4 pm, Mighty Bites Cafeteria and Blacktail Bean (located in the cafeteria) will be open 8 am-4 pm.
- The rental shop will be open from 8:30 am-4 pm.
- The Blacktail Trading Co. retail shop will be open from 9:00 am-4:30 pm.
- Snow Sports Lessons are available at the window 30 minutes prior to the start of the lesson and there is availability online for future dates.
